Last Chance Trans Am

last chance at a brand new 1979 Pontiac Trans Am from the showroom floor

If you've ever wondered what a brand new 32 year old car looks like feast your eyes on this 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. Next month this ultra low mileage Pontiac will finally leave the showroom where it has spent the majority of the last three decades, giving one lucky buyer the chance to buy a brand new '79 Trans Am.

Even though finding a low mileage 1979 Trans Am is still possible, we feel pretty safe guessing you won't find another never titled 10th Anniversary Edition 1979 Trans Am that has only traveled 6.7 miles like the one seen here. This T/A was shipped to Kitterman Motors in Corydon, Indiana over 30 years ago and has been in their showroom ever since. Unfortunately after 80 years in the business this family owned dealership has closed it's doors, which means it is finally time for the Trans Am to find an owner.

This time capsule Trans Am was so heavily optioned when it was new it required two window stickers, both of which are still affixed to the car's window. Only available by special order, this 10th Anniversary car left the factory with the W72 400/four-barrel engine and the mandatory four-speed manual transmission that came with it. Accordingly, this is one of the 1,817 built by Pontiac that year.

Exactly why this Trans Am ended up as a showroom fixture instead of a normal car is anyone's guess, but the combination of the figure on the bottom of the double window stickers and the car's potential future collectability certainly make sense. We'll have to wait until early next month to see exactly what a brand new 1979 Pontiac Trans Am is worth. The car is scheduled to be auctioned along with the rest of the contents of Kitterman Motors on July 2nd
